SAUNA THERAPY

HEALING WITH HEAT

The ancient practice of "bathing in heat" for the purification and healing effects has been utilized across many cultures for thousands of years.

More recently, sauna therapy has been found through large, observational studies in humans to be TREMENDOUSLY beneficial in increasing lifespan and improving overall health.

These studies have identified solid links between sauna use and reduced risk for age-related conditions, including cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and premature death.

For those struggling with physical disabilities, injuries, or ailments preventing them from being physically active, sauna therapy is a suitable alternative to exercise!

Sauna therapy's physiologic effects are quite similar to the physiologic effects of moderate to vigorous exercise.

CARDIOVASCULAR BENEFITS

REDUCES BLOOD PRESSURE

REDUCES INFLAMMATION

ENHANCES ENDOTHELIAL FUNCTION

IMPROVES LEFT VENTRICULAR FUNCTION

According to the World Health Organization, nearly 18 million people die each year from cardiovascular disease. This is about one-third of all deaths worldwide.

Cardiovascular disease is to a great extent a preventable disease that can improved or prevented with sauna therapy.

The Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor (KIHD) Study, found that men who used the sauna, two to three times per week were 27 percent less likely to die from aging-related disorders such as cardiovascular disease than men who didn’t. Additionally, the benefits experienced were found to be dose-dependent: Men who used the sauna roughly twice as often, about four to seven times per week, experienced roughly twice the benefits – and were 50 percent less likely to die from cardiovascular-related causes.

NEUROLOGIC BENEFITS

INCREASES NEURON PRODUCTION

IMPROVED BRAIN BLOOD FLOW

PREVENT/REDUCE  DEPRESSION & ANXIETY

IMPROVES FOCUS AND ATTENTION

SUPPORTS NERVE REPAIR

There are more than 600 neurologic disorders, with approximately 50 million Americans affected each year,

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

The good news is, sauna therapy can help with that too!

The KIHD studies, again in in a dose-dependent manner, demonstrated frequent sauna use reduced the risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Both are associated with age-related cognitive decline. Men who used the sauna four to seven times per week had a 66 percent lower risk of developing dementia and a 65 percent lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, compared to men who used the sauna only one time per week.

"Two 20-minute sauna sessions at 176°F separated by a 30-minute cooling period elevated growth
hormone levels two-fold over baseline, and two 15-minute sauna sessions at 212°F dry heat resulted in a five-fold increase in growth hormone." -Ronda Patrick

"One 30-minute sauna session twice a week for three weeks post-workout increased the time that it took for participants to run until exhaustion by 32% compared to their baseline" - Ronda Patrick
